The mall was completely empty. Power was out for about a week.Some stores taped their windows in preparation to Irene's winds, but the winds lessened.
Tree down on West street between Spruce and Locust.
Tree down on Oak St between North and 2nd. It took out main power lines and North avenue was closed for day and a half. This is councilman Hak explaining the situation.
Next day was sunday. Mass at St Anns was canceled. North side has no electricity for days.
Portable generators were used everywhere. Merchants along North and South avenues were without power for up to a week.
Underpass, that was under construction and not yet paved, was under 8-10 feet of water. Power to the pumps went out. No damage to the new construction. 8" rain fell during saturday night.
Couldnt get by on center street. Lincoln avenue and Central underpass was flooded. The way to get to the other side was either the westfield circle or thru the center of town in Cranford.
